What is KYC and why does Betunited require it?
KYC stands for Know Your Customer. It is a mandatory identity verification process required by Betunited's operating licence and Canadian anti-money laundering (AML) legislation, including the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA). KYC confirms your identity, age, and address to prevent fraud, money laundering, underage gambling, and financial crime on the platform.
When do I need to complete KYC verification?
You will be prompted to complete KYC verification before your first withdrawal is processed. Betunited may also request KYC documents at any stage of your account lifecycle — for example, if your account activity triggers a routine compliance review, if you reach certain deposit or wagering thresholds, or if there is a change to your account details. We recommend completing KYC early to avoid delays when you are ready to withdraw.
What happens if I do not complete KYC?
If KYC verification is not completed, your withdrawal requests will be placed on hold until the required documents are reviewed and approved. In cases where KYC cannot be completed — for example, if identity cannot be confirmed or documents are invalid — Betunited reserves the right to restrict account access and return any deposited funds to the original payment method, as required by regulatory obligations.
