What documents are accepted as proof of identity?
Betunited accepts the following government-issued photo ID documents: Canadian passport, provincial or territorial driver's licence, provincial or territorial ID card, Permanent Resident card, or Canadian Citizenship card. The document must be valid (not expired), clearly show your full legal name, date of birth, and photo, and be issued by a Canadian federal or provincial authority.
What are the requirements for submitting identity documents?
Uploaded documents must meet these requirements: the full document must be visible with no edges or corners cut off; all text and the photo must be clearly legible with no blur or glare; the document must be valid and not expired; both sides must be uploaded if the document contains information on the back (e.g., driver's licence); and the file format must be JPG, PNG, or PDF with a maximum file size of 10MB per upload.
Why was my identity document rejected?
Common reasons for rejection include: the document is expired; the image is blurry, too dark, or has glare that obscures text or photo; edges of the document are cut off; the name or date of birth on the document does not match your Betunited account details; or the document type is not accepted. You will receive an email specifying the reason for rejection and instructions on how to resubmit. Contact support if you need clarification.
Can I use a digital or electronic copy of my ID?
A high-quality photograph or scan of a physical government-issued ID is accepted. Screenshots of digital ID apps (such as a digital driver's licence on your phone) may be accepted depending on the province and whether the digital version is officially recognised. If you are unsure whether your digital ID will be accepted, contact support before submitting to confirm eligibility.
What if my name on Betunited does not match my ID exactly?
Your Betunited account name must match the name on your government-issued ID exactly as it appears on the document. If there is a discrepancy due to a name change (e.g., marriage), you may need to provide supporting documentation such as a marriage certificate or legal name change document.
