What documents are accepted as proof of address?
Betunited accepts the following proof of address documents: utility bill (electricity, gas, water, internet, or phone), bank or credit card statement, government-issued letter or notice (e.g., CRA correspondence, provincial government letter), municipal tax bill, or a signed and dated lease or rental agreement. The document must clearly show your full name, current residential address, and be dated within the last 3 months.
Can I use a bank statement as proof of address?
Yes. A bank or credit card statement is accepted as proof of address, provided it shows your full legal name, current residential address, the issuing financial institution's name, and is dated within the last 3 months. Online bank statements are accepted — print a PDF version directly from your online banking portal. Ensure the statement is complete and not cropped.
Can I use a PO Box as my proof of address?
No. A PO Box address is not accepted as proof of address. Betunited requires proof of your current physical residential address. If your mailing address is a PO Box, please provide a document that shows your physical home address, such as a utility bill or government letter sent to your residential address.
My proof of address document is in a language other than English or French — is it accepted?
Documents in languages other than English or French must be accompanied by a certified English or French translation. Contact support before submitting to confirm the process for translated documents. Documents in English or French are processed directly without any additional translation requirement.
What if I have recently moved and my documents show an old address?
If you have recently moved, update your address in Account > Profile Settings first. Then submit a proof of address document that reflects your new address. If you do not yet have a utility bill or statement at your new address, a signed lease agreement or a government letter addressed to your new address may be accepted in the interim. Contact support to discuss your options.
